Welcome to the Department of Philosophy
The Philosophy Department at UB has a faculty with expertise across broad areas of the discipline. We have a large PhD program, and we also offer an MA with several specialized concentration options. Undergraduates may pursue both a major and minor. We maintain an active colloquium series, including multiple conferences each year. The Department has cross-disciplinary ties with other units of the University, including the Law School, the Baldy Center for Law and Social Policy, the Asian Studies Program, the Humanities Institute, and the New York State Center of Excellence in Bioinformatics and Life Sciences. The Department also hosts the National Center for Ontological Research.
